It was just after the flash, at the precise point the child’s smile began to fade, that everyone seemed to simply look somewhere else. Her mother glanced down at her baby brother, waiting in his stroller for his own turn in the bunny’s lap. The photographer was fiddling with a setting on the camera, concerned with the lighting being a tad dim.
